This painting portrays part of Qal’at Al Bahrain which is one of the most famous forts and archeological sites in this kingdom. It is well known that Bahrain is the home of the enigmatic Dilmun Civilization that dates back to the third millennium B.C. (a millennium before the Egyptian pyramids). The most striking artistic hand crafted products of Dilmun civilization are seals which were used to officially regulate trade and organize society.
This painting is executed in a unique way in which around 1000 different hand-made Dilmun seals carefully painted and fixed on a painted canvas of an arched path of this ancient fort. The flow of colors overlying each seal reflects the beauty of this ancient civilization of Bahrain and the rich culture and legacy as a key trade center during that era. This painting is meant to amuse the viewer whether it is seen from a distant or on a closer look.
